Between February 2011 and September 2016, I served as a a member of the Board of Trustees and a member of the investment committee of Yorkshire Cancer Research. One of my main tasks was to help with a strategic review aimed at moving away from just pure research to more a patient centred approach. In particular we wanted to address the fact that 2,000 people die in Yorkshire, every year over and above the national averages. The strategy, launched in November 2015 aims to invest £100m to stop the inequality for Yorkshire people and for 2,000 fewer of them to die of cancer, by 2025. See also my work with Welcome To Whitby
