I established Active Management in 1997 as a business transformation consultancy that used an approach popular with its CEO Clients. This involved agreeing clear objectives tied to agreed, fixed fees plus bonuses for over achievement. The business did well and the team of consultants was soon built up to more than 30 with annualised turnover exceeding £3m. I sold the business to venture capitalists in May 2000 and stayed on for the transition as as divisional Managing Director until December 2001. Since then the business has been purchased by Babcock plc.
